Adoniram Judson (1788–1850) was an American Baptist missionary who played a crucial role in bringing Christianity to Burma (now Myanmar). He was among the first Protestant missionaries sent from North America to Asia. Initially part of the Brethren Mission, a student group, he read the Scriptures while on his way to India and became convinced that a believer should be baptized as a testimony of faith. Upon arriving in India, he and his wife were baptized before traveling to Burma, where they established the first Baptist mission. His co-missionary, Luther Rice, was also convinced by him and was baptized.

Elizabeth Everts Greene (1920–1997) famously known as Betty Greene was an American pilot and missionary who co-founded the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF). She was the first MAF pilot and dedicated her life to using aviation to support Christian missions, transporting missionaries, medical supplies, and aid to remote locations. During World War II, she served as a pilot in the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), a program that trained women to fly military aircraft to support the war effort.

Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati (1858 – 1922) was an Indian first woman missionary and social reformer. After her husband’s death in 1883, she went to England for medical education, where she was inspired by an Anglican sister’s kindness and service and embraced Christianity. She later travelled extensively in the United States, raising funds for destitute Indian women. With these funds, she established Sharada Sadan for child widows. In the late 1890s, she founded Mukti Mission, a Christian charity in Kedgaon, near Pune, which was later renamed Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission. The motto of the Mukti Mission is “Rescue, Redeem, and Restore.”

Isobel Selina Miller Kuhn (1901–1957) was a Canadian missionary and author known for her work among the Lisu people of China and Thailand. Kuhn and her husband, John Kuhn, served with the China Inland Mission (now OMF International). They worked primarily among the Lisu people in remote regions, focusing on evangelism, discipleship, and Bible translation. Despite hardships such as war, illness, and persecution, they remained committed to their mission. They founded schools and educated many children.

Alfred Saker (1814-1880) was a British missionary who played a key role in spreading Christianity in Cameroon, Africa. He was associated with the Baptist Missionary Society and is best known for his efforts in evangelism, translation, and establishing Christian communities in West Africa. He preferred to be known simply as a “Missionary to Africa”. In 1858, he led a mission from the Spanish island of Fernando Po to Southern Cameroons, where he purchased land from Bimbia chiefs and founded Victoria, later renamed Limbe in 1982.
